Chicago\, IL 60618 \nTotal Spots Available: 30 \nDescription: Volunteers will receive a group registration link from Chipride Volunteering the week before the event.  \nA volunteer shift at Cradles to Crayons connects you to new and gently used donations that you will quality check\, sort\, package\, and prepare to go to kids in our communities through our incredible network of Service Partners. The Giving Factory activities are broken up into specific stations\, each one part of the larger “Quality = Dignity”. Throughout your shift you will be led by a Volunteer Leader who will provide instructions and be present with you during the entire shift to answer questions and provide any assistance you may need. \n  \nAdditional Info From Cradles to Crayons: \n\nCradles to Crayons welcomes all volunteers ages 5 and older! Children between the ages of 5 and 15 require an adult present with them for the entire shift. \nPre-register in advance: It is crucial that all volunteers pre-register before coming to The Giving Factory—this is how we communicate essential information and reminders prior to your visit. Only pre-registered volunteers will be allowed inside The Giving Factory. \nArrive for check in 15 minutes prior to your shift time.  \nOur address is 2500 W Bradley Place. We are located in the back of the business complex. Please go to the back parking lot and look for our purple and yellow Cradles to Crayons signs.\n\n  \nCradles to Crayons provides children from birth through age 12\, living in homeless or low-income situations\, with the essential items they need to thrive – at home\, at school and at play. We supply these items free of charge by engaging and connecting communities. \nCradles to Crayons Vision: One day every child will have the essentials they need to feel safe\, warm\, ready to learn\, and valued. \n

We will be given a kitchen full of groceries and our team will need to create a meal to serve the clients of Sarah’s Circle.  \n  \nSarah’s Circle Mission: Sarah’s Circle provides a full continuum of services for women\, including housing\, life necessities\, and supportive services\, to help them permanently end their homelessness. \nVolunteer Responsibilities include: \n\n Assist Sarah’s Circle staff during meal preparation \n Occasionally assemble and store sack lunches \n Assist with setting up before and cleaning up after the meal \n Engage with clients in a group setting \n Oversee sign-in sheets to track meal distribution \nFoster a positive and professional environment during meal service \n Help maintain an engaging and inclusive atmosphere

Come join us as we repack bulk products into family-sized portions\, sort and categorize donated food items\, clean fresh produce items and bread. This food will be distributed to food bank\, soup kitchens and shelters across Cook County. \nInfo from the Depository: \n\nLong pants\, shirts that cover shoulders\, and fully enclosed shoes are required.\n\n\nOnce you arrive\, you will check-in with a member of our Volunteer Engagement Team\, and from there you will be guided to our volunteer lobby and orientation room\, which is a short walk from the Atrium entrance.\nFree parking for volunteers is available in our new\, expanded parking lot. There are over 300 parking spots available for all volunteers\, visitors\, and Food Depository staff. Parking is available on a first come\, first served basis. You may also use street parking on Karlov Ave. and Ann Lurie Place\, next to the Food Depository.
